Blog 4

In my 4th and final blog, I will be discussing e government as I think it was one of the most interesting topic we have covered throughout the whole module. I had never thought about e government so I was intruiged to find out what it as and how it effected government as soon as I heard about it.
E-Government is when the government uses information technology to support their activities, as well as provide a new and more efficient was of doing things. Oone of the great benefits of e Government is that it reduces government costs. The money saved then can be pumped back intoother government operations.
E-Government will also improve communications between people and their government. This leads to people being more informed on what is happening in their country as well as making better, more informed decisions. Barack Obama even has a twitter page with nearly 60 million followers!  In fact, lots of politicians use e business to make websites to tell the country their views, and let them make informed decisions based these web pages.  Communications between a government and other countries is also improved , which is also cost effective and efficient.
E-Business is now being implemented into many different things, such as the government. We can see that it is mostly beneficial in every area it is implemented.

Another topic that I really found interesting was social networking and collaborative business. In this topic web 1.0 and web 2.0 was mentioned and it really stuck in my mind ever since. This is a term that was new to me and really grabbed my attention. It was interesting to learn the differences between both of them as I had no idea what it was, web 2.0 being the more advanced internet technologies , such as user interaction, for example , blogs or wikis, which anyone can edit. Web 2.0 simply allows for  more networking and collaborating between users, as well as much more and better content providers. It is much more complex, efficient and user friendly than web 1.0. In 10 years the web went from around 45 million users to over a billion.
In week 6 we covered the topic of "business to consumer". In this section, a few topics stood out for me, one of them being banking. I use e-banking nearly every day so I think that is why it stands out in my mind when think of the business to consumer topic.Banking really utilises e business and makes it very simple. This is done through being able to check your account balance, statements and even pay bills through the websites and applications. E banking is a great example of how you can use e business efficiently and effectively.

One topic I found interesting in the following weeks after the initial introduction to the E-business stategy and practice was "E-business in a changing world". I enjoyed this as it gives you a more in depth  backround on how e-business came around over the years. It explains the factors that influenced it and how it came about, the three main factors being the evolution ofglobalisation, management and technology. Part of the reason I found it interesting is because E -business has been influenced and molded by events and people  in history that you would never before have even associated with E-business such as Henry Forde and The Battle of Britain. One of the most influencial and important events was the both world war I and world war II , which prepelled technology forward by a great deal. New technologies and golbalisation meant that the world went from large to medium then medium to small, which then facilitated e-business.
Its taken a long time for e business to get to where it is now and this is only the beginning. If e business continues to grow at the rate it is now, who knows where it will be in a few years time?

For this blog I will be focusing mainly on the first lecture and the introduction of my E-business strategy and practice lecture.  I can remember back to the begining of the semester, when we first began the lecture. To be honest  I didn't really know what to expect, but soon learned that I was actually taking part in E-business on a regular basis by going online. Although I knew the module would get more indepth and complex, because of the fact that the module dealt with some things I had a some understanding with, I enjoyed it. I find it really helps when doing a module, that you have real world experiences to refer to.
Getting a brief history of E-business was also  very beneficial and informative, I thought, as it gives you a better understanding of it, as well as being good general knowledge to have. E-business is used  every day , and we learned many different real life examples of E-business, such as Amazon.com and IBM , which again makes it easier to understand, in my opinion.IBM marketing teams were actually the ones who coined the term "e-business". First opinions are important , and although this was just a light introduction to the module, it grabbed my attention and had me interested from the start, mainly due to its relevence to every day life.
